The Foundations of Simulation course is a one‑day, in‑person introduction designed for any budding simulation educator, whatever your professional background or level of experience. Whether you’re brand new to sim or looking to strengthen your early skills, this day offers a supportive space to explore the essentials.

Across a blend of lectures, practical workshops, and small‑group activities, you’ll work with peers to design and deliver a complete simulation session. You’ll also learn to use a structured debriefing tool to guide a supportive, reflective debrief that helps learners grow with confidence.

This course is delivered at both of our Bristol simulation centres, and represents a unique collaboration: for the first time, the experienced simulation teams from UHBW and NBT have come together to co‑create and co‑deliver a shared programme, combining their extensive faculty‑development expertise into a single, learner‑centred experience.

By the end of the day, participants will have:

• Designed a simulation scenario from concept to structure
• Delivered a simulation session with guidance from experienced faculty
• Used a debriefing tool to run a supportive, reflective debrief

This one‑day course is ideal for those wanting a first step into simulation or a chance to build confidence in a friendly, collaborative environment. For participants who expect to deliver simulation regularly or want deeper practice and feedback, we also offer a two‑day flagship programme that expands on these foundations and provides more extensive hands‑on experience.
