Course description:
Using Simulated Scenarios this course looks at the generic and specific skills that are required to function well as a middle grade doctor in Paediatrics. This includes areas such as working within and leading a team, effective communication, organisation in an emergency situation. The scenarios are based around the acute situations you will encounter as a middle grade doctor in a DGH. This is your opportunity to practice in a SAFE environment.
Highlights/Objectives:
- This course is designed to enhance and rehearse the skills required to be a “Registrar” in Paediatrics
- Team leadership skills
- Effective communication and organisation in an emergency situation
Target audience: This course is aimed at Paediatric trainees in ST3 and early ST4 but could be attended by ST2s who have completed at least 2 years of paediatrics.
Format: 1 day course
Venue: Bristol Medical Simulation Centre
This course is prepaid for by the Deanery for both Peninsula and Severn trainees. A charge of £85 will be made to those trainees outside of South West. Trainees who do not belong to either Peninsula or Severn Deaneries and wishing to attend this course should contact the BMSC on 0117 342 0108 or email bmsc@uhbristol.nhs.uk to enquire about availability
