Southwest Intensive Care Mechanical Ventilation (SIMV)
The Southwest Intensive Care Mechanical Ventilation (SIMV) Courses are a series of multi-disciplinary simulation based courses focused on mechanical ventilation in critically ill patients. These courses are delivered by experts using the latest manikin technology.
Level 1 aims to improve candidates' understanding of mandatory ventilation and managing commonly encountered difficulties such as refractory hypoxaemia, hypercapnia and high peak inspiratory pressures.Highlights/Objectives:

Target audience:
Level 1 is designed for doctors undertaking stage 1 ICM or Core/ACCS training in Anaesthesia, Emergency Medicine or other acute specialities. As a multi-disciplinary course it is also open to nurses and physiotherapists with an interest in critical care. The course will provide pre-course learning to help optimise the candidates learning on the day.
