Managing Emergencies in Paediatric Anaesthesia (MEPA)

Course Details

MEPA aims to give all anaesthetic trainees in the UK the opportunity to develop management strategies for emergencies in paediatric anaesthesia using high fidelity simulation. The course is widely recognized both nationally and internationally and run from a number of centres including Bristol.

We aim to offer the MEPA course to all ST3-4 trainees that attend the Bristol Children’s Hospital and run this course in Bristol Medical Simulation Centre (just opposite the Children’s Hospital) To this end we aim to run one course every 3 months to coincide with the start of each new paediatric anaesthetic block. We use a Laedal Sim Baby and SMOTS video technology to assist with debriefing. We are continuing to develop our faculty and of course would welcome any collaboration or visitors.
