HAT (Human Factors in Airway Rescue Team Training)

A new course simulating difficult airway scenarios and use of the DAS guidelines that focuses primarily on human factors and team working:

  • Revision of DAS guidelines and skills from the DART course
  • Non technical skills
  • Human factors
  • Situational awareness
  • Communication and co-ordination
  • Decision making
  • Leadership and management

We will discuss the the DAS guidelines in detail and then rotate you through five difficult airway scenarios in the high fidelity simulator. The course is 'hands-on' - with lots of time to practise and perfect the skills. You will work with real ODPs leaving after a busy day with a clear plan A, B, C and D to apply to any difficult airway situation and the skills to effectively manage an airway team in an emergency situation.

This course builds on techniques taught on the DART skill station course
