Setting up a Simulation Centre?

Business Planning
Bristol Medical Simulation Centre has been self-financing for over a decade. Although wholly owned by University Hospitals Bristol, the Centre's income and infrastructure is entirely supported by the proceeds generated from running courses. This remarkable and unique achievement is made possible only by prudent business planning. Course fees and booking charges are set carefully to ensure that whilst individual course organisers are able to benefit from the wide range of facilities and simulators, the day-to-day running and replacement costs are borne equally and proportionately by all users.

The annual income and expenditure breakdowns (below) reveal how and why our Centre currently needs to generate a minimum of £14,000 income each month to cover the basic costs of running courses:

Faculty training
Simulators can be expensive to maintain. We operate a faculty training programme which not only allows us to educate our teachers and technicians, but also helps to minimise the risk of damage to our equipment and manikins. For more information about this aspect of training please see our Train the Trainers course.
